Know-How Training Ltd offers a 1-day awareness course for individuals entering the construction industry for the first time or those who will obtain a Green Labourer CSCS card. Our health and safety awareness programme in Merseyside provides awareness of workplace safety and helps you gain a better understanding of your role in health and safety.
What Is the Purpose of Health and Safety Awareness?
Our CITB Health and Safety Awareness course offers a basic introduction to understanding the potential on-site hazards, as well as how everyone can contribute to keeping the workplace safe. It is also one of the steps towards gaining your CSCS card after several years in the industry. Apart from helping you get your Labourer card, the course serves as a classroom programme that you can complete before or after your CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test.
Should you attend this course before your test, you can use it as a revision session to secure your passing. Our health and safety awareness programme in Merseyside is also a refresher for individuals who are returning to the construction industry.
Our one-day programme covers the following workplace safety topics:
- Health and safety law
- Accident prevention
- Risk assessments and method statements
- Hazardous substances
- Occupational health
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Legal requirements and liabilities
The course also discusses personal duties for your safety, as well as your team’s. We teach our trainees how they can work towards better practical standards of worksite safety.
How Does the Programme Work?
Each course has a CITB-accredited instructor delivering the Site Safety Plus course in a classroom style. The instructor will discuss different topics that may appear on the final exam. They assess trainees based on their contribution to classroom discussions and group works. Instructors also encourage trainees to participate in individual and group presentations.
At the end of the course is a multiple-choice test, which you need to pass to receive a CITB Site Safety Plus Certificate. Trainees who have completed the course can also progress onto advanced health and safety awareness programmes.
What Are the Entry Requirements?
English competency is a requirement but the course suits all ability levels. Trainees interested in attending the next level must attend the Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course or a supervisor specialist skills course.
