This qualification is available to learners 14 years of age or older. However, they may be unable to act as a Paediatric First Aider in a workplace before they reach the age of 16.
Candidates are recommended to have literacy of Level 1 Paediatric First Aid at Work, or its equivalent. A candidate’s skill and ability to respond to the physical demands of a real-life situation will also be gauged.
A reasonable adjustment for candidates who have a disability, a medical condition, or learning need may be possible. Interested candidates may contact us to discuss the details.
A candidate’s qualification is assessed through oral questioning, practical demonstration and written assessment.
Learners must pass both the practical and written assessments to obtain the qualification. The assessment will not be graded; learners either pass or are referred.
Scenarios that allow candidates to demonstrate their practical skills and knowledge will be set. At any point during the practical assessment, the Trainer/Assessor may ask the candidate a few related questions.
The practical assessment will be ongoing throughout the course, but the Trainer/Assessor will make it known to the candidates every time they are being assessed.
The written assessment contains both open and multiple choice questions.
Upon successful completion, learners will be awarded a Paediatric First Aid Level 3 certificate by First Aid Awards (FAA) — a body regulated by SQA Accreditation and Ofqual. This qualification will be valid for three years.
